INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR DENISE VEGA

AUTHENTICITY OF THE MALE TEEN VOICE
There may be no bigger turnoff to a teen reader than when a teen story does not sound like it came from a teenager.
 Hand-in-hand with that is a teenage boy character not sounding authentically like a male. It is a big challenge to keep a young man's interest especially since writers and editors for teens are predominantly female.

Denise Vega is a writer who has taken on this challenge in her most recent work, Rock On. We delve into the issues writers face in this podcast interview.
